***UPDATE*** The snake has been positively identified as an Eastern Kingsnake. I emailed pictures to a local expert. He was gracious enough to reply. The Eastern Kingsnake is nonvenomous and can actually kill and eat venomous snakes. It is totally out of character for me, but as long as she (I am calling it a she because that sounds less aggressive) stays on her side of the door, we will let her remain. We do have Cottonmouths and Copperheads in this area which are venomous. Plus, she should keep away any rats or mice that want to take up residence.
This is PK attempting to post a video for Jody (per Lorie's request). This is Jody adding commentary. Just so you know, I'm not crying in the video.

"I think it's the happiest day of my life" -- had me cracking up!
Holy Chicken Catchatorie (or however you spell that) cracked me up Jody! I would have been even more freaked out than you, probably. Did you ever find out the type of snake? Yuk!
Where to begin??? I chanted "The hits just KEEP on coming..." right along with you! I'm ever so glad that "she's" not venomous and that "she" eats other venomous snakes and other types of vermin. I think that we'd better just look on the bright side and focus on those points for this hit! Whew--is this just another chink in the "we're not staying in this house for the rest of our lives" fence? :) Fabulous post!
Brandon thinks you should have called the police or something. Also he is not so sure about coming to visit now :(... i tried to tell him that the snake won't bother him if he doesn't bother it, but he didn't believe me. c-ya later.
Better you than me, Jody! Sounds like you're handling it just fine. As for me, I'm squirming in my seat just watching the video!
You go, snake lover! And I'm jealous that you saw Beth Moore and I didn't...
Like she said, let's praise Him from our pits - my snow pit, and your snake pit! (Sorry....I couldn't resist!)
Love ya!
Jen
Too stinkin' funny! I was picturing a little 12 inch garter snake (like Allison found last summer), but no, you've got yourself a good one!
