Third Grade Field Trip

Aaron's class had their field trip to a science museum to learn about fossils. It was a very enjoyable trip. The day before, Aaron came home and told me his teacher let him choose the kids who would be in our group during the field trip. I have to admit my first thought was, "Great. Who did he choose?"

I have been on many field trips the past six years and because I spend a lot of time in the classroom the teacher has often said, "I put Little Johnny (name changed to protect the not-so-innocent) in your group because I know you could handle him." Little Johnny is usually the least well behaved child in the class. That means the entire field trip is spent trying to make sure Little Johnny doesn't escape or cause bodily harm to himself or anyone else.

This is Aaron with the friends he chose for our group. I am very proud to say they were all on their very best behavior. The entire third grade was awesome! I made sure I emailed Aaron's teacher and the principal to let them know how wonderful I thought the kids were.

Nice pic of you, girl! And man, that boy of yours is getting big! Watch out - before you know it, he'll be towering over you. Speaking from experience here...:0)

Once when I was working for an after school program, we took the kids to the Knoxville Zoo. I was saddled with "the boy who forgot his ADD meds" and "the wanderer." For the first time in my life, I actually lost track of a kid!! I was so busy keep track of Captian Exciteable, I didn't notice that we'd toatally left "the wanderer" in the butterfly house. It was a nightmare once I realized he was gone! Luckily, he was found by another group and all was well, but I admire your bravery in taking on all those third graders!

Happy to hear your field trip went well. I am anxious to hear from my 23 year old granddaughter how her "field trip" to St. Louis from Wisconsin is going for her as a chaperone for her almost 17 year old sister's high school choir. She has four under her wing. She said she should have realized there would be a lot of singing in a busload of choir students.

Awww-how fun! You made me laugh when you said that you usually get the class troublemaker in your group. Somehow, I can picture teachers everywhere entrusting their own little Johnny's with you!

Glad you had fun!!!
