First Day of School 2014

I am always sad to see the kids go back to school.  However, I was very thankful that they were able to stay in the same schools this year.  Aaron told me last week that he wasn't looking forward to sitting in class all day, but he was ready to get back into a routine and see his friends.  This from the child who had me in tears at the beginning of the school year last year.  He would just look so defeated when I dropped him off.  He missed his friends in Georgia.

This morning the kids were all smiles as they headed out.  Our big change this year is the kids are riding the bus.  We had a huge issue on the bus when Rachel was in third grade and they haven't been back on the bus since.  I was a bit nervous, but the kids seemed fine.  They were just concerned with making sure they made it to the bus stop on time.  They both said their bus ride wasn't too bad.  The boy sitting behind Rachel had his window open which messed up her hair, but that was her biggest complaint.  Their busses aren't crowded at all, in fact, they each had their own seats.  Since we have lived here I have not heard any complaints from parents or other kids regarding the busses.  The carpools here are very crowded and disorganized, so I think this will be a good change for us.  If the kids have any problems, I will take them to and from school.

Rachel is a sophomore this year which just blows my mind!!  Today is also her birthday, but we celebrated over the weekend.

I asked her if I could walk to the bust stop with her and take a picture.  I think we all know what type of reaction I received.  Ha!  I did, however, take a picture of her walking to the bus stop.  She is carrying her trumpet.  She was concerned about carrying that on and off the bus, but since the bus isn't crowded at all it didn't pose a problem.

Aaron is beginning eighth grade.  He is taking several advanced classes and seems very motivated to do his best.  When I took him to school on Friday to get his schedule and his locker, he was very excited to see friends.

Hannah is in the fifth grade this year and we are continuing to homeschool.  She was disappointed that we didn't get a morning picture of all three of them.  I was just happy that I managed to snap pictures and only wish I had used the good camera and not my phone.
