Back to the Beach

I have covered this before, but I. LOVE. THE. BEACH.  I could just sit on the beach all day watching the waves roll in and the kids dig in the sand.  As a matter of fact, that is pretty much what I did today.

Rachel sat and chatted with me most of the day.

And we took selfies!!

The kids were in the water and my toes were in the sand by 11:03 and we stayed until 5:00.  PK had duty, but he was able to join us around 2:30.

Except for stopping for a lunch and snack break that were each about five minutes each,

Aaron and Hannah were either digging in the sand, boogie boarding or body surfing.  They played so hard, they were still tired the next day.

I managed to capture a rare PK smile in this picture.

This plane flew over advertising open job positions in the area.  I took a picture hoping it would help me find a job right on the beach.  Ha!!

It was a little crowded, but overall it was a perfect beach day.  I am on a mission to go to the beach as many days as possible before we have to move.

The kids may have come home with their first sunburns.  Oops!!  The next time we will make sure they use sunscreen.

Back to the Beach

Thanks to all of you who expressed your concern regarding my last post. Rest assured, I am fine.

The kids and I spent some more time at the beach yesterday. I laughed out loud watching them play in the waves. Thanks to over a year of swimming lessons, not one of them cried or ran for a towel when they got knocked down.

Rachel played so nicely with Hannah. She was even giving her piggyback rides.

I know their eyes are closed in this picture, but check out those smiles. They were all just sitting on the edge of the water and I asked them to flip over on their bellies for a picture. Then the waves started coming up from behind. My camera has such a delay that I was never able to get a great shot, but they thought it was fun. We will have to try this again when P.K. is home with his camera.

I am always amazed by how much time they will spend digging.

Life's A Beach

We had another great weekend. We took a short trip to visit some friends who are about to move back to California. We wish them Fair Winds and Following Seas!!

Our friends have beach access nearby their current home. P.K. and I both had our cameras and I think we took about 300 pictures. Here are a few...

A view from the top.

P.K. went down first to recon.

Then he took the kids and the sand toys down while I took pictures from the top.

Mommy's turn. I was wearing flip flops. Flip Flops and steep hills are not a good mix.

Whew! We all made it down.

I found this rock which looks just like a heart and gave it to my hubby.

I don't like to have my picture taken or post pictures of myself for the world to see, but this one is the beginning of a fun story. I started digging a hole in the sand because it is fun.

Eventually it was this deep. Aaron challenged me to make it deeper than his knee.

Still digging...

Mommy, I think you need a bigger shovel.

Aaron thinks his mommy is the best hole digger ever. At this point he told me my new challenge was to make a hole that reaches his chin. To which I replied, "Uh, No!"

Rachel decided to try to fill the hole with water.

Aaron and Hannah decided to help.

This is about the time I realized that having children running up and down a slight incline carrying buckets of water was going to make them sleep really well. Yeah!

Once they succeeded, I decided we should dig a trench from the hole back to the lake and see if we could get the water to drain down our trench to the lake.

It worked! It was so much fun that we did it all over again.

Then we had to climb back up the hill.
