Aaron was on the Lego Robotics team when we were in Georgia. Two of his friends, Coleman and Zac, were also on the team which made it extra fun for him. When we moved here last year, I encouraged him to join the robotics team, but he said, "None of my friends are on the team. They are all in Georgia." Broke my heart every. single. time.
I was ecstatic when he announced that he was going to try the robotics team here this year. He even invited two of his friends to join with him.
Their competition was today. They didn't place, but were awarded the judges trophy which signifies creativity, sportsmanship and team effort. This was the first year the school had a team compete and their first year with a new coach, so there was definitely a learning curve. Aaron enjoyed it and I was thrilled to see him being involved.

Hat Day
"Why are you wearing that hat and why are you giving him a dollar?" Every week there is a Spirit Day at the middle school. This particular day was Hat Day. The kids can wear any hat they want and they pay a dollar. The money raised goes to a charity.
I think Rachel thought it would be fun to wear this hat, but she was a bit too concerned about what others might think. Aaron doesn't care what people think and is always looking for a way to make money. So many life lessons in those two sentences.

A Poet and Didn't Know It
Yep, That’s Me!!!
If I could be any body, I'd be me.

Root-a-Toot-Toot
Rachel had a band concert to close out the school year. She started playing the trumpet this year and is doing very well. I was really surprised how much the entire 6th grade band has progressed this year. Rachel is second from the left in the white headband.

Middle School
Rachel reached another milestone today. She started Middle School. I felt like she was starting kindergarten all over again. She didn't want me to help her anymore today than she did back then. It was all I could do to keep myself from jumping out of the car and walking her to her class to make sure she found her room with no problem. I did offer, but I got that tween eye roll and a "Mom, I've got this." She had a great day. She is in all advanced classes. No surprise there. She is P.K.'s kid.
