We had Hannah's birthday party with her friends from her preschool today. Three of her classmates came and two brought a younger sibling which worked out perfectly. Since we moved here and she decided she wanted a jungle themed bedroom, she has been talking about having a jungle birthday party.
Since P.K. has to work on the weekends, we decided to do the party on one of his days off while Rachel and Aaron were at school. We did a family party with them on Sunday night. I think it was probably nice for Hannah to have something special that was focused on just her.
Here she is ready for her friends to arrive. We found the shirt last week when we were trying on fall clothes. One of our friends from Great Lakes passed it down and it was perfect. Watch for it again at Halloween. (Another jungle related dream of Hannah's.)
Instead of party hats, we used pith helmets. They also made great decorations and containers. I filled one with binoculars and as her guests arrived she let them each choose a pair. We played one game and everyone got to win once. I had the prizes in another hat.
Cookie cakes are becoming a tradition in our home. This one was decorated with plastic butterflies that were rings. I cleaned them up and added them to the goody bags.
As the guests were ready to leave, we realized we didn't take a picture of all of them with their hats. It is really difficult to get six preschoolers who are hyped up on sugar and birthday fun to stand still and look at the camera.
I'm very thankful that she had kids who were able to come to her party. She loves preschool and so wanted to have a party with kids other than just family.

Awwww . . . what great pictures. My gosh, Hannah looks like she's grown up since you left. (sniff) Mackenzie would have loved to have been a part of that party-it's times like those when we miss being in the same city. We're so glad everyone's making new friends, though. That's so important! Glad she had a great time!

I was just telling P.K. that I was feeling kind of homesick tonight. He said, "For which home?" I told him not necessarily a place, but peole. Although the parents who attended the party today were very nice, it would have been nice to have our friends from any of our many "homes" there.
So cute! She looks like a little lady! Preschoolers - how adorable. And Jody - I am just not that creative (your party ideas - or are they all hers?), are great.
Seriously, we need to live in the same town so you can be my kids' party planner!
Oh, too cute! I am so impressed girl! You are a little Martha Stewart, I tell you (only with out the time spent in prison of course. The creative part, that's what I mean!). : )

Thanks for all the great comments regarding the party. I really do enjoy planning them. Although I think you guys give me way too much credit. If I ever become a professional party planner, you guys can have the free parties I will use for my portfolio. :):) Seriously, you just let the kid pick a theme, check out the local party store and oriental trading. As I told Marine Wife, at least my education degree is good for something. After all that time in college making bulletin boards and games for kids, it is nice to use it for my own kiddos.

Hannies theme was very nice, she looked like the queen of the jungle.
