Little Peanut

Today is Rachel's birthday. She turned nine. How can that possibly be? Did anyone else see the time racing by?

It wouldn't be right to write a birthday tribute without reliving at least part of the day. We had been in California all of two days before she made her appearance. P.K. went to work for a staff meeting that morning and then came to take me to my check up with my new ob. I had pre-eclampsia so the doctor admitted me. Rachel was such a peanut. She weighed in at a whopping 4 lbs 14 oz. We brought her home to the TLF(Temporary Lodging Facility...like a hotel) on base in 29 Palms.

Since we were still in temporary housing all of our stuff was in storage. We planned to have another month before we needed baby things. Thankfully, my aunt sent us an express box of preemie clothes. Rachel is wearing one of those outfits in the picture below.

So please tell me when she went from that little baby to the "big girl" in this picture I took this morning.

Happy birthday, Rachel! I love you!

Happy Birthday, Rachel!

What a great birth story! Nothing like having a dramatic entry into the world! And you're right, time passes too quickly. I still remember you potty training her. It can't possibly have been THAT long ago, can it?

WOW--my copies of those baby pictures (old style, not-so-much digital, of course) are not even faded yet. She can't be nine...

Give her day-late-kisses from Aunt Shannon & the crew and tell her that we're just keeping with tradition in sending her present late... :) XO to you all!

I can't believe that her newborn pictures actually look like her. I mean, the eyes and the open mouth (getting ready to talk?) are incredibly her.
Thanks for sharing.
