This morning a dear friend who has been with me for over five years decided to bid me farewell.
Last night I talked on the phone with another friend of mine, Christine. She is a military wife and understands what it is like to invest your time and energy into a relationship. When you make frequent moves, you don't have years to invest in friendships. You get to know someone in a matter of weeks on a level it may normally take years to develop. When I meet someone, I can tell within the first few minutes whether or not we will hit it off.
The relationship with the friend who decided to part ways this morning was one of those instant friendships. She has traveled thousands of miles with me. Since we met, I have never taken a trip without this dear friend. She was there for the birth of my last child. We have gotten together for at least a few moments almost every single morning. I thought we had many more mornings and probably even years together.
But in the middle of drying my straight lifeless hair this morning she decided to quit on me. Please join me in a few moments of silence to grieve the loss of this loved one...
Yep, my hairdryer quit on me mid-dry! P.K. isn't quite giving me the sympathy I need, so I thought I would share with all of you. Now I am going to drop Hannah off at preschool and then go to WalMart with my half dried head in search of a new friend.

I hope the next one is more loyal!

oh, no! mid-dry? I'll have a moment of silence for you and your friend. ^_~
I have 2 full-size and 1 travel-size stashed about the house. The girls use one now and get more use out of theirs than I do mine. I should use it more often but am too lazy. Hmm, does that define what type of friend I am? Hope not!
AAHHH poor Jody - I can sympathize with you. I feel like that about an old Old Navy make-up bag. It's not pretty. I've had it for longer than I have had children. It survived Hurricane Katrina, only because of course I wouldn't leave home without it. I can remember it being with me in the hospital after each child was born. Because you know, after all that pain, I had to at least look presentable. It will be hard to part with this silly blue bag.
Tragic, truly tragic. Apparently your Revlon Ion dry was a more faithful than my identical version. She only stuck with me for about 2 years total. Then again, I worked her pretty hard. My hair is relatively straight and lifeless, but it is exceedingly abundant and asks a lot out of it's hairdryer... ;) Hope you find a great new one!
I just have one question. Did you order low-fat vanilla lattes with her, too? If so, I feel a bit jealous. (sniff) You're forgiven, though. After all, I'm still searching for a new friend too. If you find one that starts with an S, T, or U while you're at Walmart, please let me know. Better yet, simply have them call my home phone so that I can hit "save" and be done with it. (Sheesh! This has been a hard task!)
I have the EXACT same hair dryer! Makes me wonder when she's going to bite the dust....
